Ponyo is a Studio Ghibli animation released in 2008. It is about a boy named Sosuke who finds a goldfish from the ocean and names her Ponyo. Ponyo is actually a magical being and after tasting human food and human blood, she transforms into a human and wants to remain as one. While the plot is definitely intriguing and unique, the film can be slow and dragging throughout. Its world fails to engross you and the characters doesn't draw you in. Ponyo in her goldfish form is charming and while none of the characters are annoying or unlikable, they are missing something special. The plot isn't strong enough to carry the whole movie so at times, you are not too sure where it will lead. That being said, the film was enjoyable and the English voice acting was good.
