Toy Review: Transformers ROTF Scattorshot

Review:  #313
Name:  Scattorshot
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Revenge of the Fallen
Year of Release:  2010
Size Class:  Scout (Wave 6)
Mold Status:  new

VEHICLE MODE:

Scattorshot transforms into an anti-aircraft truck with a ramming plow.  He has an unique vehicle mode, and is clearly inspired by the Cybertron character of the same name.

This is a great vehicle mode, with limited breaks and gaps in the vehicle mode.  There are some robot bits and pieces at the back of his tray but that's about it.

Scattorshot is a fairly small figure since he is in the Scout class.

The guns can aim upwards, and can also swivel but since the swivel is mainly for transformation, it can look weird.

A solid vehicle mode that looks great.  The blue paint used is a nice shade and the front plow is an interesting choice.

TRANSFORMATION:

Scattorshot's arm transformation can be confusing and unintuitive at first but overall, it is executed well.  His legs forms like how you would expect but it feels a little bit lazy that the back of the truck doesn't do anything and ends up becoming a huge block around his head.

ROBOT MODE:

Scattorshot's robot mode is equally good although the giant block surrounding his head may be harder to accept for some.

At least it's a distinguishing and deliberate feature.  It doesn't end up as bad as you would have though.  He doesn't have any other pieces of kibble though.

The headsculpt is okay, the overall stature of the figure reminds me of a gorilla.  An interesting feature is that his chest is sculpted to look like the front of the vehicle mode (whereas the actual front is part of his legs).

Once again, he is a decent size in this mode, carrying quite a bit of bulk.

His articulation is great since he's got heaps of balljoints.  It's a bit tough to squeeze your fingers to turn the head around though.

With a pair of guns, Scattorshot is well armed.  However, those guns are permanently attached.  No chance of losing them I suppose.

His large feet provide heaps of stability in this mode.  A lot more grey comes out too so he isn't as monotone.

Scattorshot has a waist swivel too.

A fantastic robot mode that looks decent and is also fun to pose.

OVERALL:

Scattorshot is a solid Scout classed figure.  He has two decent modes, and you can't really fault either.  For his relatively inexpensive price, he is worth a purchase.
